The genesis of the forum

A couple of weeks ago Jerseygirl wrote to ask if we would consider having a separate forum for women's topics. When I wrote back I let her know that we wouldn't be against it but I asked why as a matter of discussion. A couple of days later JG posted what Kathy Holzer has called 'the thread' which lead to a really good discussion about having a new forum.

In a few days the idea evolved into reality. From small seeds great trees grow.

This is so awesome!!! I just got back from Arbor Camp in Sacramento where me and 10 other WOTT followers had our first meeting. I talked to them about this possibility, so I'm so glad to see it happen. Now we have a place to easily communicate, so thank you Jersey Girl and thank you Tom!!!

Yes, and thank you MARK!! I actually e-mailed Mark a few weeks ago about having a forum too, so I think it's awesome that Jersey Girl was thinking the same thing. Maybe there's some force of nature out there that's taking us in this direction at just the right time. I'm excited!!

Mark: Did you happen to get a hold of Kiah about this? I'm guessing that is how the forum title got approved. Just wondering, since I'm hoping that the WOTT group won't mind if the Western Chapter starts up an active WOTT group within our Chapter, yet also be active WOTT International members. I just need to know how to go about it in the right way.

I sure did. Kiah is the actual brainchild. She talked to me about this over a year ago. This year at the ITCC we spoke more. When she gave me the title and description, I put it up. During all that Tom sent me a message from JZ and you emailed me as well. It all came together at the right time I guess.

I am sure that this will be a great thing for everyone involved!

I wanted to thank everyone involved in this effort as well. As a woman in this field that is generally considered male-dominated (justifiably) it is nice to have a place to come to talk with the other ladies involved. Many times we do have a different viewpoint or perspective. Many times it crosses over.

I am trying to "jump in" where I feel it appropriate on the other forums but I like the fact that if I have a question or topic that needs more of a woman's slant, I have a place to come.
