The Crushing of the Blaster.

[ QUOTE ]
I figure I'm 60% Euc, 40% Oak.

[/ QUOTE ]

Thats good MB, your coming along along just great, remember, before you discovered TreeBuzz you were 99.99% Euc, 0.01% Oak.

I had you down as 90% Euc and 10% Oak at this stage so things are'nt as bad as I thought.

The self chosen title by MB, "The Crushing of the Blaster"
simply translates into arborspeak as, "The Oak has finally defeated the Euc"

[/ QUOTE ]

Not defeated.

vharrison, am I correct in thinking that all posts directed at MB should now go via you, for you to peruse at your leisure before being forwarded to MB?

VH has a thing for MB, sort of like a pet.

Sort of says something about you when ya best friends a shrink. lol

Hope you get back on your feet soon MB!!! It really could have been a lot worse (yeah, i know, a lot of help that statement was, but true.) We're in a dangerous business. If it's any consolation i've seen 2 very safety conscious climbers break vertabrae (both local friends) for making the slightest errors (both o.k. now.) It could've happened to ANYONE! Take care of those wounds bro' !!!

That' tough . You got another foot. maybe I missed it ,but did the piece get lifted , after all this ? I'll take something away from this , thats stuff I worry about .

MB,
There is a lot to be said about the power of positive rigging. Slipping slings are dangerous things.
Next time, box cut it and get out of the way. Let the crane rock it gently til it breaks off. Get well soon.

I'm not into getting my foot crushed like a grape. 32 years climbing with no injuries (knock on wood). Everyone's a critic but who knows blah blah blah.....

Get well quick Butch. One question, do you think the operator had too little tension?

Guys, can't you be big enough to not hit a man when he's down? Butch is showing his character by posting this accident. Can't you show yours?

Sorry Mark, point taken.

I was just trying to help MB find his inner Oak.

We all have one.

Well everyone apart from Mr Ed that is he's 110% Euc.

Mark,
In no way was I intending to hit a man when he is down. All I know is I go with what I know will work. It's our job to protect ourselves and our fellow workers. Butch - get well soon and be safe.

True.

I'm pretty sure Butch knew he would get a lot of crap thrown his way.

It did take balls to post the mistakes he made. Especially, when there is a feud going on between him and others based on debatable work practices. And sure enough, it exposed bad character in those folks who are bashing the Blaster.

It seems like we are at a whole different Arborist Site when the feuding goes on here.--Unfortunately.

Not having spikes on would give more stable footing too.

[/ QUOTE ]
How so? Do you find that your less stable being spiked in?? I would feel unstable without spikes in most removal situations.

Also,I didn't read in his post that he had slipped.

[/ QUOTE ]

My understanding of the scene [which could be wrong] was that Butch was standing on the ground making the cut with debris around the base. Both things could lead to an injury. Having at least one escape route is good.

Ok, I guess I thought he was cutting from the first main crotch of the tree where the three leaders were attached.

I re read the original post, my bad Tom, my reading comprehension skills must have been on vacation.
