The book Up by Roots

Has any one read the book, Up by Roots from James Urban? I would like to know some of the technical requirements needed to understand the material. For example, do I need an introductory soil science class and several chemistry, or civil engineering classes to properly use the information from this book? I'm sure it speaks of building soils relating to trees in an urban environment.

Based on the two articles in Arborist News, the book will be very user friendly. Written to engage the reader and encourage further study.
