I really did mean to disregard it. My avatars messed up so Mark suggested posting it and trying to link to it, but alas it didn't work.

The tree is a Ceiba. More specifically a Giant Ceiba. At least thats the name the locals called it. The Mayans believed it to be the gateway to the underworld. This particular one is in Copan, Honduras. Those limbs that take off from the main trunk were easily 45-50" in diameter.
