Tech helping to protect from illegal deforestation

I've been thinking about this throughout the day.. what is the root of the deforestation issue?At this point in life as we know it here now can we not try to harvest with a deeper understanding.. I was hoping they would show what goes down when the two sides met. I can't believe how we treat earth our home sometimes. Hard to talk about....wish we could find a way to live more like the tribe in this video.
 
This vid had me thinking to. We ought to spend more time house keeping and less time chasing the $. As a whole, tech could help with efficiency and allowing us more time to design, build and live a more earth friendly life with all goodness one might desire.

I climbed in a beautiful redwood on the weekend, a magnificent living creature that takes so long to grow, and (could be) so quick to destroy. It was a bit of a metaphor for me about how we're treating the planet.
