Just look around. In most case, most not all, the ones that chase the certs and papers are the ones lacking. Show me 10 guys with alot of certs and 8 out of 10 will be guys that never get jobs done on time. They get the papers cuase it's the only way they can get a raise, their production is too low to allow a raise. Just look at any company with large number of crews, the more crews one has the worst this gets.

You beat me to it.. Almost every post I see from this guy is negative or how he knows it all. Gets kind of old.

Whats that old saying? He who thinks he knows it all does not know anything at all? Goes something like that.

BTW, I am a member of TCIA. I am not going to get accredited or anything, but they have some pretty good info online for the members. Some good business stuff. They base the membership on your annual sales.

I totally disagree with that. And I work at a company that runs 7-8 4 man crews everyday. Certification has no bearing on how well they produce. They certify to better themselves and broaden their education.

Why are you so against it? Can't pass huh!

maybe some negativity, but never once claimed to know it all. Rest assured though if I do know the answer to something I'll speak it or say my peice about it. Till this trumped up stuff of TCIA acutally gets some kind of federal recognizable standing it will never be worth more than the roll of toilet paper I keep behind the seat of the truck.

Holle, I've been less than thrilled with the production of certified subcontractors, but most of the time I am pleased. You are mixing up ISA certification of individuals and TCIA registration of companies, which show that your rant has little cognitive basis. Here in the South, they'd say that you're shooting off your mouth before your brain is loaded.

[/ QUOTE ]That would explain the passion--pent-up rage, self-denial, so lashing out. In Aesop's fable, the fox could not jump high enough to get the grapes. Fox finally gave up

and said what the heck, those were sour grapes anyway...

That might also explain the avatar--a rodent as the male role model; hmmm, Freud would have fun with that one.

Holle, I'm not looking to start a fight or anything and everyone has their own opinion, but TCIA really is looking out for tree workers and their best interests.

They were very instrumental in getting the OSHA people to see our point of view last year in regards to crane use in the arboriculture industry and are continuing to push for better clearer defined regulations.

Honestly, give them a call sometime and talk to some of the people over there. You'll be in for a pleasent surprise.

Can't pass what? TCIA papers you just jump through some hoops, throw money, and they give it to you.

I myself elected not to finish the CTSP. Can't say how many letters I recived to finish it? Felt like I had a loan shark pushing a loan at me.
