TCI EXPO 2016, Baltimore

Ok so after the long drive home and unloading and sorting through all my bags and stuff I can't believe how fast the expo went and how much stuff I came home with! Nice seeing and talking to everyone and meeting new people from the buzz I haven't met ! All awesome
People ! Jared, Rich, Frank, John, Rob who I finally got to meet, Steve, Mac, Mark P. Tripp, and Eric briefly yesterday. I'm sure there were loads of others I'm
Missing but was a great expo. Hope everyone made it back home safely !

The spar rescue demo.
Anyone who missed that demo should be hitting themselves.

Eric and Mac demonstrated the Aerial Rescue with a super quick kit that is highly practical and allows you to descend with the injured climber and a free hand. Basically an SRT system through a ring and ring up above the victim...only the base anchor is not at the base, it is terminated at the victim's bridge. With both the rescuer and the victim at the top, rigged into this system, the rescuer can work the hitch and wrench on the one side and it lowers both of them as more rope is fed through. Very well done! Furthermore, Steve was absolutely brilliant with his presentation. He narrated the demonstration while it was taking place. Steve, with his 15?+ years of experience as an arborist and 20+? years on the fire and rescue side, opened the demonstration with excellent information about the importance of working with first responders in a productive way! The information he provided was phenomenal and extremely useful. I am not going to ruin it all by trying to recap it myself, but he is going to have that information and more up on TreeBuzz home page area! Looking forward to having that resource and mindset as I go forward with getting a better grasp on handling emergency situations!

I wish all rescue crews had Steve leading their staff. He is the guy you want arriving on the scene when you have an emergency in a tree. It takes on average ~3.5 hours for a rescue crew to retrieve a victim from a tree that the ladder truck can't reach. It is important for us to use our specialty as climbers to help the first responders with their specialty of saving lives.
Pretty incredible Steve!

Great demonstration from Mac (the victim), Eric (the rescue climber)...and Steve, blown away by the importance of the information you shared!

Thanks my friend. Loved hanging with you.
I guess I only had a vague idea of what you really did Steve! I mean I knew you were only part time in the trees because you were a fire and rescue guy, but blimey you are like the ideal climbing rescue package that everyone should have on their crew. You have an impressive background and expertise! And it was a well delivered and well received presentation. Thank you!

I couldn't agree more the rescue demo was tops. I vote next year we actually put together a meet and greet for buzz board people. I don't even care if I am the one who leads it. After now understanding how this all works it wouldn't be too hard or expensive to reserve a room at the hotel and hire a cater to bring in some snacks or a meal for that matter. Thoughts

For real, it is too hard to rely on just running into people. I feel like I must have walked by a bunch of buzzers I would have loved to meet in person, but didn't know who I was passing!
