T540ixp Chain and sharpener

As I wait for my T540i to come in I figured I stock up on some chain.. Started searching and didn't get to far. Emailed Bailey's and they said they didn't have a chain like that.
According to Husqvarna it takes a X-cut SP21G which is a .325 .043 chain
I also love my Pferd CS-X sharpener and I would love to get one to fit this chain
Does anyone know if there are any other chains that will fit this saw and bar and will the Pferd work on them?

is it different than regular .325 chain or would the .325 Pferd work??? Is there a .325 low profile like there is 3/8"?

Incase anybody is interested I contacted Pferd and they do not currently have a CS-X Sharpener that will work with this Chain.. I say Boo!

Just curious if anybody tried changing the chain/bar/sprocket to a 3/8 lp?

Or what are you using to sharpen your current chain?

Thanks

I just sharpened for the first time with a file I use for 3/8 low profile. (5/32 ?)

If you must try low pro do not get rid of this bar and chain combo till you run it for comparison.

If you choose to ignore my advise and you have 16 inch bar and chain - sell it to me.

It, along with the saw, is the most agressive combo I ever run.

....have ever.....

I've been running the T540i since this summer now and then. So far I'm not crazy about the bar and chain. The chain will sometimes hang up and not cut smoothly when I'm making a face cut or even doing snap cuts. I don't have that problem with my Stihl 201TC, so I suspect it's either the bar or the chain. I wonder if it's possible to put a larger guage bar on this saw....

I'm super happy with the way the stock T540i XP chain cuts when new and newish. Once I file it a number of times my enthusiasm for it's cutting ability drops off considerably. (Hand filing is not my strength.) So I will be interested in others answers to your question Anonymity.

The Husky dealer can sell me what he says is the same chain in a Husky box. Or a little less expensive chain in an Oregon box. He says they are identical chains as Oregon makes the chain for Husky.

Then I have heard August is selling a chain and bar combo (and sprocket?) that I think was referred to as the Shark bar and chain or something.

Anyone know of great cutting chain for this in 100 ft rolls?

i like the stock chain enough, i use it until the teeth are (almost) gone, no performance drop. i dislike sharpening the 1/4 picco chain..so i wouldnt do the swap to a panther bar..

Ya I'm not as good at sharpening climbing saw chains so I recently found one of those little guides with the rollers that fits my top handles and found it made the teeth more consistent and cut smoother

I've been using the Stihl 2-in-1 3/8"P file system on my T540i and it's made a world of difference. The thing rips.

I've heard Husqvarna is coming out with a full chisel, non-safety chain for the saw, but who knows if/when that may happen.

hey merle, i freehand file with 4 mm and 4,8 mm on this chain, 4,5 mm might be a sweet size.
i sharpen every tooth and than use a raker-guide ( the regular stihl one) on every single raker, that way teeth can be different length but the saw will cut straight..

I found a rebranded 2 n 1 prferd file, just orange, and use the panther bar 1/4"... I'm not a fan of the bar, as the rivet on the sprocket was proud and would bind up. I also have a grabbing issue with mine, IT will cut like butter, then just stop cutting, but the chain keeps spinning?!!
I'm pretty sure it's the bar, and I'm running 14"
The panther chain compared to the stock might be marginally faster..
