swl

I see Mark's point. During a swing or what not, one half of the system may slack for a second or two.

I have always put he rigging line near the butt, then climbed out to set the spider leg, because it was just easier to adjust on my way back in to make the cut.

Then, I am a bit lazy and firmly believe it is all about me;). These things will definitely influence a decision!

When I am using spider legs, I tie the rope to the farthest spot on the branch, have the guys tension the rope and then attach the tail end of the spider legs accordingly. Attaching the rigging in that order keeps everything nice and tight with very little drop.

I've made some double braid FS slings for rigging I've derated the ropes swl because I have fishermans instead of spliced eyes then I doubled that number because its always in a basket. I have a 2" steel ring on one end and a 1/2" quick link on the other end.

Swl
Rope derated and doubled 3,744 lbs
2" steel ring 1,100 lbs
1/2" steel quick link 13,488 lbs

Does that mean the system is a 2,200 lbs swl since the ring is the weakest link?
