Rob,
I think you misunderstood Blink's point. He was saying he didn't understand why the pieces were tied of near their balance point. He was suggesting that just tying the butts off, somewhere near the cut would have been easier. He was not refering to the skyline..
He could benefit from taking Chisholm's rigging course (again).. or perhaps re-read the near balance point rigging thread. There are definite advantages that make it well worth the extra time (which wasn't much) needed to tie off those pieces near their balance points.
When it wasn't needed, I didn't do it, just let them fly.. (the last three tops cut)
Chip obviously doesn't get it.. Anyone else around here that does has yet to speak up..

Blinky has a valid observation - why all the extra farting around with the skyline? You have often defended your 'advanced' techniques and skid steer as time-savers so why take all the extra time on this one? Like EZ said, it sure wasn't for the surrounding trees.
I don't blame you for wanting to play around with your gear, I know I enjoy it. I just hope the client didn't have to pay for all the extra tinkering time...
I would be remiss not to mention that you tore up southsoundtree for setting up a zipline where you considered it unnessesary. What's the difference here?
Impressive video none the less. Those were some big sections coming out. I gotta say I wouldn't trust your ropes to tie up my
dog after that! But as always, video perspective is not the same as being there.
What about Tom's question? Why were the trees removed?
