swinging some white oak limbs

No offense Daniel but to me the rigging wasn't all that impressive.

But just imagine if you were that old man who knew nothing about tree work, it probably would appear impressive.

Blinky has a valid observation - why all the extra farting around with the skyline? You have often defended your 'advanced' techniques and skid steer as time-savers so why take all the extra time on this one? Like EZ said, it sure wasn't for the surrounding trees.
I don't blame you for wanting to play around with your gear, I know I enjoy it. I just hope the client didn't have to pay for all the extra tinkering time...

I would be remiss not to mention that you tore up southsoundtree for setting up a zipline where you considered it unnessesary. What's the difference here?
Impressive video none the less. Those were some big sections coming out. I gotta say I wouldn't trust your ropes to tie up my dog after that! But as always, video perspective is not the same as being there.
What about Tom's question? Why were the trees removed?

Maybe everyone is tired of you reacting like a 6 year old to constructive criticism. Why even post these videos if you dont want real and honest critique. Do you get a rise out of being annoying?

Hey robinia,

you really need to submit all those chiptruck and chipper ideas to Lego. I have yet to see them do tree care things.

Sorry for the derail Daniel

Rob,
I think you misunderstood Blink's point. He was saying he didn't understand why the pieces were tied of near their balance point. He was suggesting that just tying the butts off, somewhere near the cut would have been easier. He was not refering to the skyline..

He could benefit from taking Chisholm's rigging course (again).. or perhaps re-read the near balance point rigging thread. There are definite advantages that make it well worth the extra time (which wasn't much) needed to tie off those pieces near their balance points.

When it wasn't needed, I didn't do it, just let them fly.. (the last three tops cut)

Chip obviously doesn't get it.. Anyone else around here that does has yet to speak up..

There's no one here to offer even a tiny little bit of intelligent analysis or critique, much less any "constructive criticism".. You're trying to tell Michael Jordan how to take a jump shot here pal!

I love how you call people "pal" when you're all worked up. It's adorable.

But did you just seriously compare yourself to Michael Jordan?

Oh Daniel, you are freaking hilarious.

Weak attempt at tearing up/ try to stir the controversy & conflict pot... I mean, try to have a civil, intellectual tree work discussion.

The first 11 responses were freakin' awesome, I was laughing so hard and I'm not drinking.

Daniel; the energizer bunny of producing "tree man" videos. He just keeps on going and going and going and going....

Was good to see you out of the bucket Daniel.

It was interesting.

Showed me how to make a wrecking ball out of some logs.

Ahhh, it wasn't too bad.

But due to your history, you have us TreeBuzzers looking for your mistakes, it's like a fun game for us now. Like where is Waldo? Instead, it's see how many mistakes we can find on this new Daniel video.

If you get a lot better and produce a great video someday we might not know what to do if we can't find a mistake.

take care,

X.

p.s. A serious question: Do you have a big following of customers that watch your video online? Do you use them to sell yourself to new customers by referring the videos? Just wondering why you do them. Or is it a fun hobby. I'm not being smart here.

Why do I do them? Hmmm, to contribute to treebuzz, to show potential customers from time to time and show some friends what we do. And it's fun to "lock" some of my experiences on film for later when I'm older and not doing this stuff anymore. Oh and if I or we make a mistake, I hope to catch on film so I can show at a saftey talk or something like that.

That's an excellent observation.

And as most of us are concluding... I'm not impressed, nor am I learning something new or improved Daniel.

So, why should I/we comment on your rigging if I/we have nothing good to say about it?

To me, the most controversial part of the video was the ending with the customers. And that was worth commenting about
