Sunscreen

Thanks for the reminder, Jim!

I went out in the field a few times this week, and got too much sun on the face....gotta get better about covering up.

I only have this one set of body covering skin.

I've caught glimpses of that thing. Probably a good idea to cover it up...for the children.

Can someone please explain to me why the stuff listed in this thread is so expensive? I can get 2 jugs of the coppertone sport 30 SPF for like 18 bucks at Costco. Thats about 20oz of sunscreen, vrs. 3.3 oz of the other stuff for less money. If I knew this other stuff was really protecting me that much better, I would have no worries spending the extra money.

I'm all about the bull frog, have been for years. Coppertone sport didn't last long enough for me when I was sweaty. That said, I am a whitebread Wisco honkey

several factors drive the cost up.

first, and most importantly, this contains Mexoryl the only sunblock ingredient in the world that protects you from UVA and UVB short and long waves. this means that not only do you not burn, but your skin doesn't age, and thus lessens your chances of wrinkles, cancer, and melanoma.

second cost factor is that it is newly approved here, been in Europe for 20 years. the FDA just approved last year.

third cost factor is that only one company, Loreal, is allowed to sell it so far and only in the one size.....supply and demand.

its great stuff, I wear their spf15, and never burn. I am a pale skinned irish boy!

So, if this stuff is SPF 15, and I am using SPF 30,different brand, does that make up for the difference? I get 15 more SPF outta mine.

as I understand it, and this is just from reading on the net, no. Exoryl is the only sunblock ingedient that protects from short and longwave UVA & UVB rays. also 15 with this stuff is like 20-30 of other brands.

I first learned of it from my euro friends who all swear by it. go to canada pharmacy online thedy offer almost all the manufacturers.
