Just curious to see what bar oil everyone uses and if you notice a difference? Right now I use an "all seasons" blend, but wanted to know if anyone used a "summer" or "winter" blend year round?
We use stihl exclusively. ..winter grade on the really cold days...try to switch back and forth as temp changes...running the winter in temps above about 30 seems to really eat up the rails.
this is the only oil that we use year round. It is a little thick when pouring it on cold days, however I have never noticed it effect the performance.
I used to use a Bailey's bar oil that had tackifier in it to the point it dripped off stringier than honey but, they stopped making it that way. Now I use the Tractor Supply stuff on most bars and Chevron bar oil with tackifiers for long bars.
We work year round so they get winter weight and summer (usually we trade which we're using when it's 30-40 degrees). In a pinch A SMALL splash of diesel/kerosene to thin out regular bar oil will also work
We switch back and forth as well. We run the husquvarna oil. We normally switch to winter weight mid November-December depending on the year. And switch back to summer weight late February - early March. But it seams as though we will never get back to the summer weight oil the way this spring keeps going. Looks like another snow storm Saturday maybe.
