Stung again

Got stung twice on the wrist and the back of leg yesterday(Ground wasps under Blue Spruce)
Its almost funny how much it hurts and that such a tiny wittle bug can create so much chaos. LOL

Since the varoa mite has made it's way to hawaii we have very few bees here. Unfortunately this means a lot less fruit on the trees....

Re: Honey bees OK YellowJackets NO!

Honey bees are non-native European bees. Colonies can exist for years in warm regions and become really big. In cold climates, honey bees usually do not survive. They can sting in defense of their colonies. Stinging kills them. Honey bees have been affected by colony collapse disorder which is a huge agricultural issue. Not really an environmental one. The Varroa mite is one factor involved with colony collapse disorder.
Yellow-jackets are Vespid wasps and may be native or not. Nests typically last one year. Wasps are useful predators. I leave nests alone if I can. Not always do-able, I agree.

"Where’s the best place to keep the EpiPen Auto-Injector?

You should take your EpiPen Auto-Injector everywhere you go, but it should be kept at room temperature (25°C, 77°F) until the marked expiration date, when it should be replaced. The effectiveness of this drug may decrease after the expiration date therefore care should be taken to promptly refill the prescription before the expiration date. Your EpiPen Auto-Injector should not be refrigerated or exposed to extreme heat or light."
