stumper wheel?

my sc802 vermeer stumper wheel is worn out and i was considering switching to an aftermarket style wheel.. leonardi or similar .green teeth look good also ..can anyone recommend what they have used and if it was worth the switch over..

Take it off and send it to machine shop to get it built up and balanced...way cheaper. Thats what our vermeer dealer suggested for our 1102. They wanted like $4000 for new one and the new river wheels arent much better... ive had good luck with grinding down the high spots and filling with weld and grinding flat again as long as its not too messed up. Our 1102 kept throwing teeth or loosening up on some of the mains. 10 times better now that the high spots are gone. Just some thoughts.

I was very interested in a Leonardi wheel. I tried to buy one. I called multiple times, sent emails. After a few weeks I called and spoke to a manager there. He said he was going into a meeting and would call me back. He never did and I finally gave up.

I saw the greenteeth wheel at TCIA. It is not available for larger machines yet. I think they said it must be less than 40 HP?

I bought a second machine last year. Both machines are are Carlton 7015s. The new one had the sandvik wheel. I was very skeptical of the wheel. There are so many teeth and I envisioned huge replacement costs. This wheel has been unbelievably good. We did a city contract with over 150 removals in the curb lawn and went through less than 10 teeth. The wheel also keeps the chips very close to the stump. It speeds up clean up time significantly... Really have nothing to say but positives and I really didn't think I would like it!

Should i edit that to explain that i just didn't want to spend the money on the NRE wheel? I know they a better...i just meant the cost...jeesh.

no need to edit craneguy1 and thanks for your input..i have been repairing with welding and grinding for some time now and it has gotten me some more time on the wheel .but now the bolt holes are also egged out ..i am ready for a new wheel and have been hearing about greenteeth for a few years ..just really want to know what upgrade to go with before blowing a bunch of $
