stump grinder

in the market for a stump grinder looking at a sc752 anybody have this machine and do you think it is underpowered

They are pretty nice machines. They are quite powerful thanks to the differential drive but its that drive that can be problematic.
When they go out they can be quite costly to fix but I think all machines of that size are direct drive now so one doesn't have much choice.

We run a 502 and an 1102 almost daily. Biggest problem with the direct drive system can alleviated with proper greasing. Normally the bearing in the lower gearbox gets neglected buy the grease gun. New 502 lower was about $3000...you can rebuild them most of the time but its still pricey. We love out 1102. Looking to replace the 502 with a high horsepower self propelled, but havent found a unit we really like yet. Look for a nice used 1102 imho...plenty of power. 6 inches gone per sweep 18" down! machine is not that much larger either.

752 is a great machine for grinding big stumps, horrible for chasing roots though. The op in the above video is not getting anywhere near full performance from the machine, ftr.
