Stolen saws

Got to the job this morning to discover that all of our chainsaws had been stolen from the chip truck. Couldn't come at a worse time. I'm trying to do everything to recover the saws so I figured I'd post this. I know the odds are slim but if any of you guys in NJ come across some of these saws for bargain prices please let me know. Two 460's, three 200t's ,husky 3120, a new 660 and a 36. The 660 and the 3120 are ported so they are a little distinct.

I know that it is no consolation, but I am really sorry that that happened to you. It really bugs me that thieves run around stealing things that the rest of us work so hard for.

Did u file a police report?? That is critical because if the scumbags take them to a pawnshop, and you have supplied the serial #'s to the police then you have a much higher % of recovery.

Also, my father owns a construction co. and has had equipment stolen and 90% of the time it was an employee or someone working on the same jobsite that saw what he had and wanted it. So the thieves may be closer to home then you think, such as a disgruntled employee or a fired employee, or another service that saw you were leaving your truck there. Good luck and I hope you recover all of your equipment.

That really sucks Pete. Those saws are great tools and very pricey. I am not looking forward to the day I get my tools stolen from me. I figure it will be a matter of time.

Hopefully insurance will cover them for you...

Appreciate the kind words. Yeah I filed a police report but I'm wary about filing a claim.. I'm sure the rates would jump quite a bit. It definitely seems like a former employee or someone familiar with my setup. They knew which toolbox to break into. I'm kind of surprised that they didn't bother with any of the rigging or climbing gear. I'm not a materialistic person but it's hard to part with saws that you worked hard to get and it takes some jackass a few minutes to take from you.

Why wouldn't you file a claim with insurance? That's a pretty sizable financial hit you took. You did everything YOU could do to secure your gear, RIGHT? AND you need 'em to make YOUR living.

I don't understand why you wouldn't file a claim with insurance. You did your part, the crooks did theirs, Ummmm why shouldn't insurance do theirs.

BTW IF they are caught, they should have their right hand amputated. If it isn't your stuff, keep your hands off, OR suffer the consequences.

THEFT SUCKS!

I know it was bad.

I remembered some one else doing that in the past, so it was a borrowed idea.

Sorry guys. I'll be gone for the week end. I'll be camping in Rocky Mountain National Park. You won't get any mean posts from me for 3 days.

But, I'm not as mean as Ed.

FOR SALE: We got a new shipment of chainsaws from the east coast just this afternoon! Please hurry while they last!

Sounds great! If you could kindly respond with your address I'll have a few friends come out to pick them up. Be on the lookout for a rapidly approaching bulldozer.

Where in NJ? This happened to the company I worked for last year. Just the saws were taken. It's easy and they have a broader market than the rigging stuff.

It was thought that a disgruntled past employee was the perp.

The yard is down in Metuchen. Supposedly alot of that going on in the area lately. The guy at the saw shop said that the Nelson trucks were hit last week and they actually blow torched off a padlock to get to the saws.
