Stihl MS460 - Bar / Chain smoking

Two questions about my 460:

1. What bar / chain combo do you recommend? I've been thinking about ordering an Oregon bar / chain because I can get them a bit cheaper than what I'm getting from the local shop. Are there any concerns I should know about?

2. The other day I turned around when my groundie was using the saw. He was in a huge cloud of smoke. He told me the smoke was coming from the bar / chain / wood (not the exhaust). What would cause this? My first thought was the bar oil, but the oilway looked clean and the reservoir was full.

Thanks.

I like Stihl bars and chains, seem to outlast most besides GB ti, and Cannon. and their chains cant be touched in performance, IMO.

Sounds like maybe the chain was dull and he didnt notice it? Or the chain was WAY too tight?

Boston Bull is right Shane. Stihl chains are barnone the best. The chain is a lot harder than Oregon or Carlton, and I have heard it is at a bit of a different pitch. All I know is that if I run oregon chain on any of my saws, out of the package the chips are much smaller and dont fly as far as stihls. Not to mention the stihl chain definitely outcuts the competition.

Your 460 was dull, not oiling, or a combination of both. Also Sometimes when flushing a stump the exhaust will heat up dry grass, and dead bark and cause it to smoke.
