Stihl Boots! You like?

I have been interested Stihl's chainsaw protective boots for a while now. Does anyone use them? How about climbing with them too?

The other day I came close to nicking my ankle with my MS460 at full throttle. I about pooped my pants! /forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif I had chaps on, but my ankle and foot are still vulnerable, you know?

i dont know many people who like them. the collapse after a while, the leather cracks bad too.
i reccommend meindl or haix

in this case, you really do get what ya pay for

I never could decide on a pair of chainsaw boots so I am sticking with the Cindercones and other hikers for now.

When are they going to make lotion with chainsaw protection? Kinda like sun tan lotion? That is the joke my coworker uses when I ask her about her lack of chainsaw protection while climbing.

OHH yes you do Stihl logger boots are great IMO they last long ,but like Steve says they do kind of collapse ,though this isn't a prob ,i find them cheap and comfortable and they last a good year ohh and they have a great heal for spikes

I am impressed with the Haix customer service. I e-mailed them asking if they sell in the U.S. Well, a day goes by and I get a phone call from Germany! I was impressed. An American from Germany will bring me boots to the states when he comes out to visit family in Christmas. He will ship them from his home town (San Antonio, TX.) with no extra charge for shipping. Wow! That is great customer service!

I have used Stihl boots for some time as they were provided FOC by a mate. They are IMO useless for most things, they collapse the leather then rubs through at the heel and the sides. I dread to thing what they'd be like for climbing !!! Meindhl rock though, they are as comfortable as slippers a truly brilliant boot.
