stihl 88

got an 88 burned up again 3rd time in a little over a year

each time they tell me it was ran with no mix

first time maybe the other 2 Im positive was not

each time the same gas was used in all saws on site no other problems.

any chance there can be another issue?

ethanol in fuel?

should i make another mix heavier for it?

anyone have similar issues with the stihl big'un?

love the saw when it runs but it might become an expensive decoration.

What size bar were you running?
Sharp chain?
What kind of cutting?

If you running a BIG, dull chain, in tough stump cuts, it really betas the snot out of them and you could have scored it up that way.

Any pics of the piston?

Was the spark plug grey or cocoa brown?

apreciate the reply B Bull
ill try to get around to taking some pics today. however, the piston is scored.

as far as the chain goes it was cuttin great had just sharpened it.

You must be popping your base injection hose off, have you checked it?

That's how I blew an 084 years ago, the solution is a longer hose that can travel the complete throw of the anti-vibe extension and retraction distance.

No base injection hose? Kapow!
