Sterling HTP

I really liked the way my rope wrench was working with 11mm KMIII, but wanted some better hand gripping. I ordered some half inch Sterling HTP and it works great with 10mm ocean polyester but the rope seems to take forever to soften and break in. It's super stiff, almost struggle to get it into the rope bag.
Anyone out there that uses HTP with some insight on how long it will take to soften or any tricks to speed up the process?

I started climbing on HTP and have had 3 hanks since then. In my own experience the rope just got stiffer the more I used it. Works great for acending with a croll setup no matter how stiff it got. All three were 1/2 dia. As well. Another thing I might add is never, never wash the rope... You think it's stiff now, I retired my 1st rope the day after I washed it. This is my experience with HTP hope it helps.

It doesn't soften up. When you climb on HTP the fibers lock up tight and the rope becomes more rigid, that's why it was difficult to put back in the bag. After it sits for a couple hours the fibers relax and it's back to as supple as it will get, until the next time you climb on it.

I know. Your shop has quite a few things I've bought over the years. I was really hoping I would like this rope more than the KMIII. Don't know what I'll do with it yet. Probably use for foot locking. Just sucks to have an expensive rope like that just for one thing. Would you really be interested in it if I wanted to get rid of it?

All my SRT climbing has been done on KMIII, but people have been telling me how great Sterling HTP is. I really like KMIII though.

BTW, did anyone hear that New England ropes plans on doing away with KMIII?
