Stein Arb Trolley

Now I just need to figure out if I want to mount it to the chipper or not when traveling.

Dude waaaay better than the notch version just judging by specs of the other one. It's like half the weight. I won't leave without the trolley unless I KNOW I dont need it. It's frickin awesome and the more you use it the more you love it.
Winched a bunch of logs up a little access spot into a back yard. Steep short hill thru like 3" of 3/4" stones for water run off from the driveway. Saved by winch and trolley. Saves endless trips on pruning jobs and handling a lot of long and skinny brush (many conifers, white oaks or ash, poplar, leggy brush).
I put mine cart first into the chipper shoot and use a small ratchet strap around the neck of the handle from side to side of the chipper.
Mass DOT told me ropes were. It am acceptable tie down...

@96coal449 a guy I worked with made one and his wheel axle was an "s" shape in less than. 2 months and became basically a brush cart. Definitely get the design down, that was his flaw.

Frank, I'm glad you added another excellent piece of equipment to your ranks. Like Deevo said, you'll be making your next purchase to complement the Stein next.

Boy you guys aren't leaving me many reasons not to buy one. Frank when are we working so I can demo it and see where it will fit on my increasingly crowded chipper. Lol

Frank I thought you told me you ordered the Notch version?
I've been on the fence about getting one because I have the mini. But my question would be is anyone using it in conjunction with a chipper winch? My thought would be to stack the butts of long brush on so it was tail heavy, hook the winch on and drag the brush out using the axle to hold the butts up. If anyone has used one in this manner I would be interested in their thoughts. Thanks

Yes, and it's great. Tree work has almost become too easy. Hopefully link works...

@stheis004, now that's ingenuity at it's finest. I bought that little shovel and just discovered a better use for it ..... skidding! Mert, another thread here about the trolley .... someone winch choked the handle under the corner gusset. Eliminating the need for a skid plate.

That is brilliant!

When using the trolley to move wicked long logs with the winch, take the handles off so it's just the little cart over wheels, put the weight the slightest bit towards the front, use a sling/shorty rope for a leash to steer, and your in business.
Key little thing for anyone who saves wood for lumber or anything. @Bixler had some awesome pictures of the trolley moving lumber

We had a job last year. It was a dying white fir about 120' down a 10-15 degree (average) sloped yard. Driveway at the top. Normally a perfect job for the chipper winch, but there were two "rolls" in the slope, so butts would impale the ground and ruin it.

Groundie got over zealous and put what amounted to a 10' diameter bundle of limbs in a pile. We ended up tucking the axle of the arbor trolly (removed the handle) under the front of the bundle. It worked awesome. I think we steered the bundle, but no damage to the turf, and I think the 120' x 30" fir was just two winched bundles.

Well worth the money. Everytime I take the trolley off the truck I hesitate because it's ackeard to get on and off the catwalk, but every single time I think or say out loud that it was 100% worth the effort to unload it, and I wished I hadn't procrastinated...
