The rigging sling sometimes folds over the lifeline, rather than slip. No big deal. The chunk is taken off the line, the lanyard flipped down as you spike down past the sling, weighting the choked line (couple of steps). The rigging sling is popped off the top. Continue spiking down secured by the choked line.

My lanyard is still below the sling at the sides, but on top of the tail I leave for the block. I normally leave a 6" tail to hang the block.

Any clearer?
