srt removals

here is the other one....View attachment 28409

those geckos were designed for lightness Paul...oh well to each his own. I'd just like to see a vid with the usefulness of srt td's....do you switch to RAD system or what. Can't imagine switching to anything or just using footscenders to footlock can match speed or ease of spiking up, which I could do all day every day...and I am 65. But then I am a workout nut case.

I think it'd depend on the tree. Some of those monsters with huge limbs, or trees with big knots and vines can be tough to get up on spikes quickly. But climbing that rope like a ladder to the top is fast and possibly uninhibited. Just having the option between the two is a nice thing so you can use what's best at that time. And ya never know, maybe those super light Geckos with an added foot ascender might weigh in the same as the regular Geckos. IDK, just my two cents...

Dave and Will, those geckos were polished so was the CT ascender..that is the prototype..hey I am hearing ya Dave I spike up all the time at present...but the removals I do here are mostly medium sized trees..I am yet to get a monster..TBH I don't want to as there are limited lovely BIG trees here which need to be left alone...hence me not needing the ascender...I just like the idea if I do ever need it like the scenario Will stated..spiking up even using SRT has been all I ever needed..the ascender is just another thing I am exploring..have only ever tried it messing around and not at work..

Oh yeah don't get me wrong I have cut down good sized trees here with some hefty wood, not since the ascender thing passed through my hands...so I really don't know how it works in that scenario...but I am curious as I always am...might work for me who knows...it's just an add on...no alterations...so if it does not work it will go in my not using gear box...I just like to try new stuff regardless....keeps things interesting....I am a very small show so that is how I keep things interesting...I am NEVER under the gun and make nice profits cause I have low overhead so I can spend some stupid money on gear sometimes....my real weakness is rope....lol

Does he ship to the U.S. and are his carbon climbers better than the geckos.? I've been told the geckos aren't great for a 200lb climber. They flex to the ankle and put pressure. I'm happy with my titanium bucks but want an ascender on the right one and a spacer on the left.

Titanium bucks are harder to do cause the gaffs are on the curved part of the shank....just a bit of advice...I would get a pair of aluminium Distels from Treestuff....then get a spikescender and spacer from Dale...or you could get them from my friend David Coker...his are above too...his is slightly more forward...near the gaff.....I have retired my buck ti's now...Distels are just too comfy...I have gotten used to the different gaff offset....the spikescender not available till November...I can hook ya up with David's if you cannot wait, his will be sooner....he does really good stuff.....I am getting both...as soon as they are ready...

I looked for the Distels on tree stuff. Are they just the European climbers. It doesn't say Distel on the description. I can wait till November. Do you like aluminum or do you think the KK carbons will be better? Let me know when either are ready. If it's easier to get them in the states from David then I'd go with him. Guess I just need to get either the KK or some Distels.
