My Uncle George used to call my little brother was squirrel breath. Does that count?

That is my guess. I was just driving by and saw the tree - got out to look. It is in a common/HOA area of a nearby neighborhood. Bark all over the ground. The dark streak goes to the top on the other side of the tree. Pretty sure it was a strike on the tree. It is still budding out. We had a pretty good storm roll through Tuesday night...

When looking around, I saw the squirrel...not sure it is related or not, but if I had to draw a picture of a lightning struck squirrel, I think it would look a lot like that!
