They're always beat up. I hate them more every year. Seems like all the residential developments from the late '40s are loaded with them. Makes me wonder if they knew how big they get when they planted them in their tiny yards.

I actually like silver maples! Lay them behind the chipper and walk away. They are straight and take very little cutting to get through and soft !!! Only issue is chip space

Both times I've had a chainsaw ripped out of my hand stuck in a cut were silver Maples. I I hate cutting big leads off a silver maple.

I here ya there ..... I just hate the big crowns and tiny drop zones. Seems they take up the clients yard, the neighbors, the other neighbor behind the house. Otherwise they are kinda fun.

Update...silver maples have popped here...n.e. ohio...20 miles west of cleveland. What gives?! When we get our last freezing rain/snow after a week straight of rain it might be interesting...remnants of sandy all over again.
