Splicing onto Round Thimbles

I wonder what you Guys think about it and how do you make your Stuff when splicing onto Round Thimbles (yeah,f.e. like the Antal ones, no offense meant!).

I do not splice as tight as possible to the Thimble as I think it puts extra stress on the Throat, and its maybe even some kind of cross-loading the Eye.
I like to leave it a little loose as it cannot come out anyway under load (ok, depends on the shape of the Thimble as well).

Do you do or see it different with Double- and Hollow Braid?

In think for maximum Strength Teardrop shaped Thimbles are the best, but I like some of the Advantages of round ones though...

I spliced a teardrop steel thimble on one of my long lanyards and I love it.. I didn't tighten it all the way either. I left it with a little wiggle room and it works great

I would also add, "what are you doing with the rope?" If it is a climbing line, you'll never put anywhere near the force needed for it to be a problem. I like things to be snug and tight, so personally my preference would lead me to install the thimble snugly.

If there is a tiny chance the rope could be more heavily loaded, do it right.

Yes Nick, I make this difference too, it makes sense for me!

Norm, I tend to go for a 90° angle, as it is also my rule of thumb for Deviation Force Angles (if does make any sense in English...). But as I said it depends on the Shape of the (groove of the) thimble as well. When it is deeper it is lesser an issue to splice it loosely.
And another great feature then is to be able to take the ring out of the eye!
I try to attach a picture of an actual splice project like it.

I have spliced Yalex onto Antal Rings in the Past and I didn't do it super tight so I wondered when I read somewhere about them that they do it "super-tight".
Maybe someone can explain? X, Rich H.?
