Splicers: Toss Wand Quick Release Available $8

I have a number of Quick Release (QR) setups for the Brion Toss Wand* available for sale. This is an aftermarket adaptation of a bicycle QR component which makes it easier to quickly and efficiently lock and unlock the wand. Flip the lever out and the tube of the wand retracts and extends easily. Once you've snared the core, cover, or whatever you're burying simply press down on the lever and you're ready to draw the wand back through the rope.

Tested on the Medium and Large wands. Should also work on the extra long 42" Arborist wand, too. (I have not even seen the Micro sized wand so I can not tell you if it could be adapted to that one.)

Easy to install: Simply unscrew and remove the existing knurled knob, remove the Phillips head screw and insert the threaded shaft of the QR through the larger, un-threaded side of the Toss Wand handle and screw into the threaded portion until gentle pressure on the lever engages the cam and clasps the movable hollow shaft of the wand. DO NOT use excessive force or you could damage the threads in the handle. The mechanical advantage of the cam provides plenty of locking pressure with a minimum of pressure on the lever. The threads of the QR shaft will extend slightly out of the far side. A threaded end-piece comes with it to cover and protect the exposed threads. Once you adjust the QR by twisting it in or out to get to the point where it loosens and tightens with minimal pressure on the lever you can gently tighten the end-piece to maintain the adjustment.

PM me if you'd like to turbo-charge your Toss Wand.
$8.00 each and that includes shipping to the Continental US.

*I am not associated with Brion Toss products and do not know if this device in any way might void any warranty provided by Brion Toss. I owned and operated bicycle shops for ten years and this is a decent product for the adapted use. You can still find these at some local bicycle shops, but this diameter shaft is getting hard to find as it was too thin for the intended bicycle applications and most of those available now have been redesigned using a larger diameter shaft.

EDIT: My apologies, I changed the price in the title to include the shipping; it should read $8.00 as the title stating $6 is a little misleading until you read the text and see it's $8.00 with the shipping costs stated in the body of the message. Sorry.

Chris,
I just got your PM and sent a reply, but my PM page does not show any "Sent" PMs??
Let me know if you got my response.
Thanks.

If you have a bicycle shop in your area that sells "Giant" brand bicycles you may be able to cut out the middle man (me!) and find these locally. Just be sure to take your wand with you and make doubly sure you are getting the proper thread size. With a caliper the diameter of the threaded portion measures 4.85mm and the unthreaded shaft measures 4.35mm. (I believe it's what is called a 'rolled' thread).
Try it before you buy it. It is the bolt from a Quick Release Seat Binder Collar. I still have a few and I'm looking for more in case you can not find any locally.
Cheers,
Pat

EDIT: (I attached a picture of the assembly)

Hey,
Am I so unapproachable? We offered lever-action in the early going, but most users thought it wasn't worth the (slight) extra cost, because it can be a bother to keep the lever set for ideal compression. We still would be happy to send anyone a lever, or a larger-diameter knob, or heck, a wingnut if you'd like. The levers we use are significantly cheaper than the type used on bicycles. Check any good hardware store.
Fair leads,
Brion Toss

Heck no Brion, you're not unapproachable! We (or at least I) had no idea that you had the lever-action in the early going. Glad to hear you still offer it to those who want it.

BTW, how's your ankle doing these days since your surgery? Any lasting effects? I had a really bad sprain a few months ago (Grade 3 tear). The ankle doesn't feel the same, but no surgery......yet.
