This is the video of the split Beech tree that I posted pictures of.

Actually, its two video’s taken over the consecutive Saturdays. The first one starts a little dark, as was the day, but the quality improves so hang in there. The second one is much brighter Some peculiar sounds on both so turn up your volume.

About 20 minutes to watch both. Thanks

Excellent vid Reg, nice back cuts.

Why did you switch to the Husky half way through the notch?

Why didn't you create a landing pad from the timber to fell the spar onto?

Who was the sinister looking timelord with the hat that just had to get involved with the notch?

Very good quality film, thanks.

Grover

The husky was easier to bore with.

I didn't have time and besides, that trunk is staying where it landed.

The timelord is actually a pretty cool guy, he did the camera work also.

Thanks man, the editing took longer than the tree.

Terrific job on the video, Reg!

Great felling cut on the big trunk, I saw the camera move when the trunk hit the ground....must have been cool to feel the ground move like that!

Did you get a chance to count some growth rings? I am wondering how long it takes to grow a Beech like that in England.

Thanks so much for taking the time to make such an enjoyable video to watch!

Great videos Reg!

I like how you flag your foot about 2.5 minutes in the second video. That's a great rock climbing technique as well.

Love the two angles on the video too, good job editing.

With all the time involved in editing, is it safe to assume you are now officially divorced?! Looked like tough positioning on a few of those stems, great job! Looked like you were not tied-in twice on those large stem cuts? If so, why did you choose to go without?

Cory, I like the angled release cut, it’s a more comfortable posture for me and no, my saw has never been taken/pinched with the fall.

Easypoem, no I didn't count the rings. I Should have but forgot.

RockandTrees, I'll have to watch the video again, I must be a natural!!!

Taylor, Juliet was with me on both days to take pictures as part of her studies in photography. Work pictures’ are the current project so one could argue that she now owes me. For her to complain about this most recent editing would be quite cheeky the way I see it.

I'll tie in twice if it makes the job safer. However, if this compromises an escape route where there is high risk, or increases the risk of cutting one of my lines due to awkward and impractical positioning as was the case in some of the bigger unions on that job, then I won’t.

Due to the state and architecture of each and every individual tree, there will always situations where Industry-Best-Practice is actually detrimental, not too many but they do exist. It would be some rule-book that had the absolute safest solution (all things considered) to every possible scenario.

Thanks for all the positive comments, although the editing was actually tougher than the climbing, very time consuming.

I love sending stuff in open areas

Man, you didn't even have to watch out for the neighboring trees.

Sweeeet.

Oh I had to watch Jamin, otherwise it would have come down in half the time.

But being the awesome climber that I am, every job is made to look easy!

I'm kidding, of course
