Spider lift or knuckle boom?

you don't bore me Ed.

you keep it lively.

Hopefully family tree won't kill himself, as I value him on the buzz too.

we all make a good mix.

Family tree, I have never walked away from a tree removal in my life, but I think you are a smart man to walk away from something that you might be unsure about. Especially since you suck.... just kidding, don't kill yourself or something.

When I read you walk away from some removals, it made me think. What tree removal have I walked away from? None, but maybe I've been lucky or something. There is always a way to do a tree safely though, it just takes time and money sometimes.

Give the spider lifts another 2 years or so, finally they are competing in the US and sure to get better.

I watched the Tuepen in action, and I decided they suck. Then I spent my money on a K-boom and have been very happy.

I would think k-boom would be a better purchase for a company with competent climbers. The spider lift we rented (with operator $$) for some scary black locust trees was stupid slow compared to a bucket. The guy that owned it said that he wished he had never bought it and has since sold the lift. He did have some other problems with it though, maintenance related.

From a business owner's perspective, if I only have one competent climber who could run off on a whim, a spider lift may be a shorter learning curve.

oh, by the way, there was a k-boom unit on ebay maybe 2 months ago, same model as mine, I think it was only like $49,000 or so. just for the boom itself, but with remote and winch too. a palfinger 29002.

slightly used, practically new. i think that was the price anyway.

I think MSRP on mine is like $120,000 or so.

but i didn't tell anyone, as I don't want them to have my same k-boom doing tree work. I thought about buying it too.

ha...

Thanks for the info x. I'm going to let him worry about finding one. I was just interested to see what everyone else thought if they had to choose.

It's funny that I chose kboom. I recall talking with you a couple months ago saying that a spider lift was more practical and would be more helpful in the long run. After seeing your rig I realized how wrong I was.

hey, good for you with helping your boss spend his money wisely by the way!

sounds like you care about productivity and don't just put in the hours.

I suggest that he actually go and visit an operation using a spider lift and one using a k-boom.

many owners are willing to share info, if the person takes the time to call.

Family Tree I am located in south jersey Atlantic city area you are welcome to come down and work with us for a day with our kboom to see the pros and cons in a real life situation. If thats not possible i will traval to you if your interested let know.My company has been useing kbooms for 10 years.

Thanks man. I really appreciate it. I've worked with a 100' kboom before and know how great they are. It was a real fun job, powerlines, building and new York traffic. The kboom was amazing.

I will let my boss know of your offer and see what he has to say. He is stuck on the idea of a spider lift but maybe a practical demonstration will shake some good into him.

I'd like to sign up for that class. A class always need a clown. I'm your huckleberry.

I can host a class for you 2 power puff girls any weekend you want, just give me a heads up. Only thing is, on weekends you twinks will have to help drag brush, no just climb and then check your nails in the truck. Or would you like for me to come to your house?

Whats up FT I recall you asking me twice? Telling me the ball is in my court? Well I'm dribbling the thing all over the court, aint ya going to come out and show me up, with all that high tech gear you have. Damn boy I'm twice your age I'm sure you can make a fool of me. What with your high standards, award winning work, and great skill.

FT SJ Tree is a great guy if you can't already tell. He swung by one of our jobs once and picked up the wood for us with his knuckle. We didn't ask him to he just was in the area and helped out. Says something about him, when we were competing companies.

My boss never gave him anything but praise and had only great things to say. If the job needed a larger bucket or a crane, we revered jobs to him. He can teach you a lot.

SJ Tree, will you be at the competition this year? I know you missed last year because of other activities, hope to see you at this one. Tell Jason to come out too. Haven't talked to him recently

I'm well above you ed. (yawn) once again you bore me.

I think it's very flattering that you are intimidated by me though. "the almighty Ed" intimidated by little ole me.

And it's for good reason. I'm right on your heals and it's driving you crazy.

Keep looking behind your back and you'll never see what's in front of you ed. Words to live by. A gift from me to you.

There are plenty of people in this world that I would love to impress. Your not one of them. Your not worth the time it took me to type this post.

Good night sweet heart.

Then, there is an issue with city contract work. They will not let climbers bid on boulevard trees. Only companies with an aerial lift.

[/ QUOTE ]

who's the jackass in charge of that?

please forward them a link to this forum.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm "as serious as a heart attack." But, I do like the guys ahead of forestry. I don't think it is fair that climbers can bid on boulevard trees, but it is what it is.

So, I told them I can compete with a bucket truck on removals because I put a crane on nearly every removal. They said they would allow me to bid on them.

For the sake of the conversation... I want a K-boom!
