Spider jack loan

treebing

Been here much more than a while
Location
Detroit, Mi.
Anyone out there with a spider jack that they don't use that would be willing to loan it to me for a week or two. Will not be used in a work setting, light use, I'll pay shipping etc.

Ask Santa for one, or just get off the wallet. I don't think your going to get any takers on this one. Equipment is like a toothbrush, you don't want anyone else using it.

Yeah, could be, but I have a whole pile of gear I never use. i know enough to know i will not be using a spider jack for work. I just need to be able to answer a few questions. Actually really like two or three days would be enough.

If scrat screws you over you can borrow mine.

From what I heard it is not a good idea. The spider jack engages when weighted, with the rope wrench above it it doesnt allow it to be weighted.Plus the whole point of the SJ is its ability to self tend in a DDRT configuration ,you lose that with a rope wrench and srt.So I think there are alot better and safer solutions for srt and the spiderjack is not one of them. But for ddrt with a pulley saver or rope guide the spider jack is awesome to me.

what do you recommend for a hitch (number of wraps) with HH just tried it on the beam inside and with the 8mm OP I have 7 wraps and can easily creep it with my weight. I am only 205lbs. what are your suggestions cordage wise and wraps/braids. I am currently on Imori but my other ropes I have not tried are Poison Ivy.
thx

Maybe you can hang in your new living room TIP and watch a live stream from my helmet cam, or banjo's helmet cam!

10mm hitch cord is optimal for the HH, especially on Imori, will run nice for you. 6 wrap VT, no braid, as short legs as you can make, will grab well for you.

I suspect 7 wraps is quite enough with the 8mm, shorten up the legs until it grabs.

yeh I messed around in the house and got it dialed in after TDS'ing it a number of times and shortened it up a # of times too. seems to hold solid now. true test will be in the trees this weekend, guess I was mor concerned with creep if you had to hold some weight or toss a piece. it is quick to respond to very subtle changes in length. Like everything else I will have to play with it and tune it to me. For what it is worth my initial impression is very positive :-). Think Adam was using some 8mm Donaghys, waiting for feed back and then call Luke for some hitch cord to test drive. I hope I can make the CT climb and Goodaking confirms an invite for me. Sorry I have missed you all those weeks in Boston but 6am to midnight was just too much.
