Have you done this?

Re: spiderjack 2

yes works fine for working a spar like another lanyard or through rings and/or pulley saver as your climbing system. works fine for going down not so great for going up though.

Ok-going up is why I asked. I attempted using the SJ2 with a rope wrench once for an SRT experiment and the first thing I tried was to ascend and couldn't get off the ground. I have to try that again when I have time to work it all out. that being said I was concerned that the SJ2 would not grab consistently without the other leg of the rope tied to it's side, velcro. THX!!

Re: spiderjack 2

I think I would stick to using the spiderjack for whats its designed for DDRT.The whole reason for buying mine was it just looks like alot less work.

Re: spiderjack 2

I tried the wrench + jack combo. The spiderjack relies on having the body pulled up and releasing the cam, as in when you are pulling your tail down in a ddrt system. I had the velcro rip off mine last week midday and the jack was useless without it. That aluminum side mount looks pretty good in comparison to having the velcro rip off more than once.

Re: spiderjack 2

I been climbing on the SJ2 for quite a while now and love it. Took a week or so to get used to it but it fits my style of climbing very well. I taught my daughter (4 years old) how to climb on it and she does suprisingly well. This is a pic of us today in our oak tree.

Re: spiderjack 2

Another Pic, 45'.... no fear. She can pull down on the tail coming of the jack to advance herself (with pulleySAVER installed). I just had to constantly remind her to push the tail forward to hold her progress. Also, the descent is pretty controllable with just the black handle when you weigh only 38lbs.

Re: spiderjack 2

Hey Rexman, nothin' like having your little girl climb with you. Mine went from 4 to 14 over night, just yesterday she came out and wanted to footlock because she saw me practicing. Encourage that little one and enjoy her company as much as you can! great pics

Thanks for the heads up, Jeremy. I talked to Sherrill who is the importer for ART and the woman I spoke with hadn't heard about the mods. She did check into it and asked what they were specifically, where I heard about them, and where she could get more info so all those things are good.

She did say that they have a healthy inventory of ART stuff which *I* interpret as it'll be a while before we see the stuff on this side of the pond.

It looks like from honeybros the lever and sling kit together are ~62.50 usd. Shipping is almost the same at around $61 to my zip. Not really worth it at that price.

I'd bite if someone else wanted to split shipping though. I could grab 2 levers and 2 sling kits and ship when it shows up here.

If anyone's interested PM me.
