Just wondering whos using one and what kind of feedback can you give me on it.I hurt my shoulder in November so I been out for a while.Im just looking for something maybe easier on my shoulder, than the conventional stuff.Thinking about incorporating Gerald Beraneks rope walker system,or Scott Sharps rope rocket system as well.just til the shoulder is 100 percent.Going stick with doubled rope and my pulley saver because with one arm im going need a 2 to 1-so please dont make this another srt thread,Ive had a uni and a rope wrench for a while and know what they have to offer.Any feedback would be real helpful. As far as ascending I will be using a -Wraptor

Been thinking of getting one for this year. This should be interesting. Saw some video footage of one in use and the slack tending capabilities are awesome. Also wondering about the cams and how long they typically last using natural crotch TIP compared to a False TIP.

Looks pimp! It would definitely help with your shoulder, no more hanging from one arm while tending the slack with the other. I've talked to a few guys and they say it takes some getting used to, but they all love it. It just takes some patience and the cash. Good luck with your recovery, take it slow with a shoulder injury. I know what it's like, I'm sitting on the couch with a broken leg right now. Sucks!

I like the idea. But the price scares me. So many options these days. The spending can get out of control. Personally I would work with what you have and come up with something that suits your injury. That being said if I had some money to blow it would be near the top of the list.

I don't recommend natural crotch, or utilize as little as possible. Spirited descents lead to glazed rope, unfortunately! With the pulley saver employed, I can nearly pull slack through one handed, and with a pantin walking up the rope has never been simpler. Working up a leaning limb against your rope is super easy, just pull the slack to you and the spiderjack takes care of it in an instant.

The learning curve wasn't too bad. I've had it a few months now, and its already just about become second nature. Initially getting g the feel for the brake was odd, sometimes I couldn't even figure out if id disengaged the cam at all. I find it actually easier in my offhand for some reason, so ambidextrous use is entirely possible.

I bought mine as a shot in the dark, with no previous experience of it, and glad I did! Running it on Tachyon and loving it. Only gripe is I wish they had radiused the top edge of the body, when slack does develop and you have to pull it through manually, seems like a real chafe point. Saw a gen 1 spiderjack and looks like it was rounded at the factory, not sure though.

Jeff are you using a spliced eye in the Tachyon? I do not have any rope with eye splices. Just wondering what other things I might need in order to use this system.

Yes on the spliced eye. I have one of these: https://www.treestuff.com/store/catalog.asp?category_id=223&item=1509

Since the sj stays on the line, this is girthed to the biner with the large end next to the jack and held in place with the Velcro. I then just clip in to the small eye of the sling. Girth keeps it from sliding around, and frankly undoing the Velcro for every recrotch on an ascent ir whatever gets really old really fast. Plus with it spaced away from the controls, I wouldn't see a tied anchor knot interfering with stuff too much.

Thanks Jeff but what are you using for a pulley saver? and what is the best option with retrieval devices and price? Thinking of the Buckingham friction savers with a retrieval ball. Probably the best for the money?

I've got a teufelberger pulleysaver, and I've got a ring and ring 16strand I spliced up, with a pinto pulley on a prussik so its adjustable, and being ring and ring I can set it from the ground too.

Can the teufelberger be set from the ground? Not a biggy cause with large trees I will be using the wraptor and then tying in up in the canopy. Like the pulley so nothing will really wear out in time like how if it is just rings as I have seen on some video's.

I am thinking just a pulley a carabiner and another rope. Set from ground controlled decent and zero fiction. Just have to watch from cutting the rope. Sorry Jimmy for hijacking. Just read again that you were going to be using a friction saver.

I've had mine for a few weeks and absolutely love it. It's expensive, but if you've been eyeing it for a while pull the trigger. You can always sell it here and take a small loss.

If you do pick one up, make sure you get a short dyneema sling and a swivel for your bridge. Check out the spiderjackery 3 vid that was posted and you'll see why.

I've used it with velocity and tachyon, both natural crotch and with a ring/ring fs. Your level of control with a FS make it a blast to zip around with. Obviously it's better for your clutch too.

I just finished making a U-Saver today.. I can't wait to give it a go on the pinto.

Go buy one and blame us - we forced you.

Go for it man. Just play with it low and slow until properly manipulating the clutch and brake are second nature. and get the sling for sure because it has way less bulk in your hand than rope when working the Jack left handed.

pulley saver, and jack = game changer. my shoulders don't hurt any more and shoulders are very expensive to replace. I don't make efforts to preserve my jack, how ever clean ropes and using the wood are key. Also, if you don't need to don't burn down. most of the time ;)

In those pics it looks like you reground a worn cam... how'd it work out for you? I've read about people doing it but that's the first time I've ever seen pics.

I had been able to subdue by desire for this shiny new toy until I started reading this thread. Ug......now it's time to start counting change.
