Spider Crane ??

ok...but this is little different from what have you seen here in Italy..
I never seen this model here ...this is a mix between building style and classic style...it looks strong..but the net structure of the arms in my opinion is too elastic for our kind of job

Moble tower crane there was apost of someone useing one on a job, they took a picture of the lasst cut and the crane operator was in the photo using a remote control for the last lift its was pretty cool. I think the post was tight squeaze. But that Little thing I would snap in 2 without even thinking about it. They were showing something like that in the boston expo for personel lifts, I asked the guy what would happen if a top swung into the side of it and He didn't have an answer. So I wouldn't trust them for tree work.

Hey Mark, the mobile tower crane you posted looks a lot like the Liebherr MK80 or MK100 Self-Erecting Mobile Tower Cranes. Very Impressive machines, but I don't even want to guess what they cost. Their crane cabs are actually on elevator tracks on the main mast of the crane, and can ride up and down to get the best view of the hook.

I'm a bit of a crane fan, lol, so I have the data file for them sitting here on my computer.

The MK80's load chart states max load of 1,700kg(3,747 lb) at 42m(137 ft) horizontal radius, 28m(91 ft) height, and by putting the jib at a 30° angle, it can lift 1700kg to 48.1m(157.8 ft) at a 36.6m(120 ft) radius. At a radius of 30.5m(100 ft), with the jib horizontal, the load rating goes up to 2,850kg(6,283 lb). Max lift for either crane is 8,000 kg(17,636 lb). The MK 100 adds another axle(MK100 is a 5-axle chassis, MK80 is a 4 axle), an additional 5meters of height for a hook height of 33 meters((108 ft) and a maximum radius of 52 meters(170 ft).

We're talking a crane that can literally see over the house from the driveway, and lift one to one and a half ton sections of tree to the truck at the curb. Who's going to be the first to call and get a price quote? My guess at cost will be $575,000 for the MK100.

tnt,

Haven't found a company in the US that owns one to call and get an hourly rate off of. AFIK, setup and takedown is sub 30 minutes. They were designed for European cities, where the horizontal reach, coupled with quick setup and takedown lets them do the job with less time closing off the street.

1/2 an hour, thats 1/2 an hour faster than 70tons with a jib. Do you think they run an oiler?
A one man operation might get the cost down a few penny's. That thing would work slick on alot of jobs

Dooood! That MK80 is impressive. You could like schedule 6 crane removals in one day. Picture parking the crane in the middle of a street. (Pull a permit for this one baby!) Imagine three back yard removals on one side of the street and three backyard removals on the other./forum/images/graemlins/pbj.gif

You pay the crane operator for a day, but you finish 6 jobs in one setting! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif

All six removals to allow for 6 pool instalations no doubt.
