I set a lead line today with my BS, plan to use it to rig a speedline tomorrow for a tree in my back yard...junction of 2 fences, driveway and house means I need to drift limbs and trunk pieces of a smallish gum towards the open-er back yard. The top of the main lead is rotten and broken off at about 30 feet. A limb became the "takeover" lead, about 3 feet below the rotten part, and now goes up to about 50 feet. I'm concerned that as it gets larger it will split off...towards the house.
I'll go up that lead, use a block to top a 10-12 foot piece and then transfer it to the speedline. I plan to tie into two (somewhat) nearby trees...the junction of the trunk and the high lead looks solid but I am not sure how much to trust it. The limb is about 10-12 inches where it joins the trunk. I'll get some pictures.
