here is one more....

Guys, i have a video of this job that is in production (yeah i know that it has been 2 months Robert) that would just give you a whole lot better idea of this job, but i don't have the finished product yet. so for now i guess pictures will have to do.

here are some fact that will blow your mind though:

on this job we took down 4 trees and SL them 500' and across a lake... we used 2600' of rope, 18 carabiners, 20 web straps, 13 pulleys, and some really cool techniques... i came down the SL twice /forum/images/graemlins/jamminz.gif .....

too bad Robert was not able to help with the climbing, he did look at the job and tell me a couple of good ways to set things up.

More on this later

Is that the flying fox trolley for the speedline, Charley's?

What rope was used for the mainline?

Looks like a sweet job! Great job (it seems).

Nice job like to see the video, I see you have Charley Porthoffs rigging block. I bought one while back been waiting for a job like this to use it. So far only used it for kid rides.

How exactly are you bringing the load up to the speed line?
Are you lowering the speed line to the load, or winching up the load to the speed line?
Nice pictures

HAHA, Glens, I was waiting for you to post something as soon as i saw the size of the first picture. I must say though that it prolly took a lot of self control to not go into a 2,000 word discussion on resizing images...thanks for the downsized, I am sure more than myself appreciate it.

Great job guys, there are so many questions i have that might be simply answered with the video so I will wait. One quick one though...did you have to buy spooled rope specifically for this job or did you happen to have all that rope just laying around?

what am i missing here? why all that rigging for a little tree? it looks like the tree could have been rigged down with one rope and humped to the chipper faster than you could coil all those ropes up.

i don't mean to offend anyone, speed lining has it's time and place. were you running a clinic try to teach or is this how you usually work? i'm just trying to gain insight to this.

sorry about the images... to answer some of your questions:

we were using 5/8" static line, tentioning with (at first) a chipper winch tied off with a port-a-wrap, then when the pieces were larger we were tentioning with a bobcat (largest piece: 900#).

i was lifting the pieces up to the line at first (too many obstructions to lower the SL), when the obstructions were clear, we lowered the SL to the pieces.

i will have the video in 10 days

Rob

Correct me if I am wrong but all that rigging is because the job trees were on the opposite side of a lake with no chipper access on the job tree side. Kinda hard to drag brush through a lake in my opinion.

Bingo Phil!

there was no way to get a chipper even within 1/2 mile of these trees, and even if we could, this is a conference center.... there were people using the only path that would have made it possable....
