Spectra for Unicender tether

Just happened across a 10 foot remnant chunk of 12-strand spectra (7/16) and am thinking I'd like to make myself a tether for my unicender.

Just a couple of questions. First, any reason to NOT use spectra for a tether?

I'm going to use locking brummel splices to allow for a shorter bury. So the second question is, would a full fid length bury be sufficient for use with spectra?

After a locked brummel I think a full fid is fine.

The only reason spectra might not be a good choice is the risk of melting it with a running rope.

Do you have any Ocean Pacific 10mm? You could slip the jacket over 7/16" spectra and lock stitch it... Beeline cover, any 10mm scrap will probly work.

All that being said the risk is pretty low, but you asked.

I love Spectra (in my case Amsteel Blue, Dyneema) for making tethers, but I use 1/4 inch with locked Brummels at each end. Don't you think 7/16 inch is HUGE for such a purpose? The big advantage of Spectra is that it can be so small.
