I've heard it has several weak points, top handle flimsy....doesn't have the power it claims.....

It may well be a good saw, though...

The Solo 651 (not the SP which I have, woods ported) is rated at 4 hp....a 3 cube saw. Old design. Many reports that it's very good.

The 681 is nearly the same as the 7900 Dolmar, but has an extra 2 cc. Fastest in its class, but the anti-vib system is wimpy soft. A very well made pro saw. (that I've never seen...worse dealer network than Dolmar....

The 681 balances better then the 200T one handing. The AV spring type is bar none tops, no vibes, sweet.
But no where close on power. Clam shell type design. Not near the build of a 200T. But it is half the money.
People that have problems with 637 running or starting since new. It is just a carb adjustment away.

651 compared to a dolmar 5100, not much different IMO.

681 has really soft AV like RB said. But good gawd it is a power horse in the cut and I loved my 7900.

There again make sure you have dealer support or know how to order parts online and fix yourself. That part I like.

I've not made my mind up on it yet Jim. I thinking this one or the Dolmar. Might be the Dolmar seems to be the one I'd be able to get parts for.

I have to say I choose the Dolmar over it just for the facts of getting parts. Seems the solo, which I'd of liked to try can only be got fro VA. The Dolmar that I can say I'm quite happy with. Added just a bit of a muffler hole or two. Can be found right in Landsdale PA for 300. "bing"

Crane jobs most everyday and it plugs away just like my 200 used too.

Nice. I never did a muffler mod is there much to it?

I know there is a Dolmar dealer in South Jersey. Not sure if thats closer for you. Its a landscape company off either the white or black horse pike in EHT. Thats where my old boss got his dolmars. I loved the 5100s and 7900 i'm sure the Top Handle runs well too. Good Luck

As long as you can braze/tig weld, a muffler mod is not hard at all. The resetting of the carb can sometimes be quite tricky unless you have a saw tach.

Domar 3410

The one in on route 38 no longer carries chainsaws.

And if you venture to try Solo Chainsaws

There is also a dolmar dealer in EHT off either the white or black horse pike! I get the two confused so i can't remember. I can probably get the phone number for you if you need it. My old boss Jason Pilla bought 2 from them. I loved those saws.
