SOLD ! Tandem hooklift

I was just juggling through my two boxes on a Ram 5500 today and as I was hauling loads I thought, "I wonder if people even get how much better this makes material handeling?"

Versatility/options/flexibility.

Two bins to a jobsite, chip into one load wood as it's produced into second bin.

Haul load with one while other(s) are being loaded.

Drop bins to ground to be loading at level 8 inches off ground.

Set bin on ground to load and haul 528 Avant.

Haul most valued items (Avant, tools) on return trip home. Pick up remaining load in other bin(s) when it works for client and you - frequently in evening hours.

Do you have a hook lift or a switch n go on that 5500? Gvwr and payload?

Hook lift. A Stellar model that could dump up to 16k when evenly loaded - be installed on class (7?) trucks. Look up "Bin There Dump That" on youtube.

I had two bins built thinking mainly of logs and had them built heavy for longevity. Lamely ended up with 4,600 and 4,300 lbs payload that they would be happy to let pass over the scale. Next bed will be an aluminum chipbox with built in toolboxes.

Hope this hasn't distracted from your sale thread too much Gerasimek.

If a company was running a little bigger operation and could utilize a truck this size bins are surprisingly affordable to have built. My heavy duty 11 and 13 yard bins were about $4k and built very well - in CA. I would have some built that nest inside one another and go out dropping a bin at different crews jobsites, picking up a bin loaded for a return dump run.

Were looking real hard at putting a sng 14 ft hydraulic 18k setup on our 4700 international 26k gvwr chassis. We have also considered a smaller hooklift setup. Trying to keep the payload up since it's a 26k truck and hook lifts seem heavy. 4600 lbs of payload isn't very good for a 5500. Our f550 with a 11.5 ft dump body is good for 7k payload. It's a decently heavy bed that has held up well to logs for years.

There's times when itd be nice to have a flatbed, open top dump bed, and a chip box. We would also like to do the Russian dolls thing of having a slightly smaller dumpster inside a full sized one so we can take two to a jobsite.

We dont use our grapple truck much because we chip daily and it takes another cdl driver that we don't have. It comes out 2 to 4 times a month usually. Being single axle, it has the same issue your hooklift does. It's just to heavy vs the gvwr. It's legal payload is 8k. Works pretty good for brush with a few logs but full log loads overload it quickly. The previous owner is a friend of mine. We accidentally rolled into the dump with it at 42k before.

If it goes to Philly, I don't k ow the rules, but to be exempt from Smog checks in CA, diesels must be pre '97, not '07

No emission tests in PA for diesels. May mean that 2007 and old there is no DEF or exhaust regen or that kind of expensive if it breaks kinda stuff.
