Smart Winch/GRCS comparison

Well that was interesting.......and Smart.

The obvious question: How much?

I noticed that ice packs were mentioned for use in the GRCS bollard. It's interesting to note that the Smart Winch is an all aluminum frame and the bollard aluminum also and welded to the frame. That ought to be good for efficient heat transfer. Noted too is the Smart winch bollard is not a closed tube where the GRCS is a closed tube. The closed tube ought to be stronger, all things being equal.

Love the total aluminum build on the Smart Winch!

The SW is steel. I'll look up the exact mix for you.

The cost of this unit is 3440 or so dollars. That does not include shipping it over to the us. I will wait until it becomes available in the US.

Even at 3k .. I'm very inspired by Rc 3001 it has proved it self very well to me for little over 1k .. Very robust and effective for winching as well .. Pick it apart . I have an awsswer to the ??.. Smart winch does look interesting ..thanks for the video sbh.

Let's all just take a minute and thank Greg Good for both of these devices. Without his ingenuity we may never have seen attempts at improvement. It's all good LOL!

We lower everything on the winch since we purchased it in 2012. I don't notice any significant wear. It can lift pieces with no slip the same way it has since day one.

It's an interesting tool but I think I would still take a GRCS, like tr33climb3r said, I have not had any issue with wear on the winch on our two GRCS's and we lower 99.9% of our rigging right off the winch.

I think the strap setup would be annoying as well but that is just my two cents...........

That was actually one of my questions I was about to ask. Does anyone really have an issue with the winch wearing out?
