Very interested to hear opinions here. I've been eye balling since it's release. Love my current silky, but sometimes I could really use a straight blade.

I've had one for about a month and I love it. I'm used to a curved blade and the strait blade is a little more difficult to start the cut but rips like any other silky. The scabbard is really nice, has eight rollers to guide the blade back in and the end is open so saw dust doesn't build up. The handle is two pieces that snap together around the blade, no other pieces. Also, the bumps on the top of the handle lock the blade into the scabbard. I can get a picture of the scabbard opening if you want, don't think it's shown anywhere.

thanks, first started using Silkys with the Gomtaro then used a Natanoko for years then for the past few years the Natanoko 2000 with the slight curve which is a great handsaw, always thought the scabbards let Silkys down, the Tsurugi looks interesting with the extreme narrow blade and a decent scabbard as well, worth a try anyway.

Fearless what's the flex like of the blade and how thick as compared to the zubat or sugoi obviously the sugoi being the thicker of those two. My worry is that it's not stiff enough, and as you own one you might clarify this for me. Oh yeah and can that scabbard be leg mounted? Swing.

Good point swingdude, the thicker blades of the Ibuki and Sugoi mean more effort is needed to remove more wood from the saw kerf unlike the Natanoko and Zubat with their narrower blades.

If the Tsurugi has a thick blade like the Ibuki and Sugoi to compensate for the narrowness then it aint the saw for me.

If the scabbard straps are anything like the leg mountings for the Sugoi then they're useless, a Sawpod is probably what you need.

Grov the sugoi scabbard needs the R&D for sure. It fits and stays put with spurs but on prunes its very fickle. I am always having to adjust it. Well I have looked at the saw pod, but I spent too much on " Junk Box " items last year and am being cautious with my purchasing this year. Wish I could offload some of the Junk Box as the stuff might work for others. The shipping from here is just to brutal, might be better off throwing them to the sharks or cudda's. That's a joke dudes. Swing.

I would compare the thickness and flex more to the sugoi than the zubat. I haven't had an issue with it bending but it could if you were really forcing the cut. Holding the saw it has very good balance and is super light, forgot I was holding it on a couple occasions. I would say the scabbard is the coolest part but it's a combination of how they fit together if that makes any sense. I don't think the fit would be possible with a curved blade/scabbard system. I don't use the leg mount because I am short and it isn't comfortable but it does have loop holes.

A co worker has one and I'm not a big fan. The handle will pop open if you uses the saw with two or three fingers ( like reaching for a limbs and kind of hanging on the saw for extra reach).

The blade is pretty thick, more like a sugio than a zubat.

After seeing it I'll stick with my trusty zubat. Not a total sell but the narrow blade can get places where my zubat cannot.

Pay for shipping to here in a big bundle then have someone here part the order out for you in the states. Throw them an item or two for their efforts.

Can't see this happening unless you are pinching half the handle while putting some serious pressure on it, or it is defective somehow.

Was thinking about doing that just the other day, no sense hanging onto stuff I won't use thanks for bringing that idea back to me. Might be able to get a lot of small items I have been eyeing lately.

They have improved them a lot. They have s a type of locking mechanism which seem like it would work well.
