Silky Blades Interchangeable?

Hey friends,

Question about replacement blades.

I can see that both a Zubat blade and a Gomtaro blade have 4 holes in them.

Does anyone know if I could fit a Gomtaro blade in a Zubat handle?

I know the lengths of the two saws are different, but are the handle sections the same size?

I have both saws. I'll take em apart and see what happens over the weekend but I bet you get your answer before I even post the results.

im pretty sure they are interchangeable. the scabbards are not though. Im working on some silky handles made out of some hickory i had milled. Ill post pictures when done.

So Family,

Done the old switcheroo experiment yet? Time is of the essence as I am in Japan and have found some cheap Gomtaro blades but am leaving in less than a week. Would love to know if they fit before wasting the dough without being in the know.

Also, how does the Gomtaro blade with Zubat handle work in Zubat scabbord? Does it stay in there well? I would assume so although would love your results.

Hi Eric,

Thank you for your question. You can fit the Gomtaro blade into the Zubat handle. However, you will not be able to use the Zubat scabbard with the straight blade.

What Silky blades will fit into a Zubat handle? It would be nice to carry a different style blade, and not have to spend the dough on all the handles.

Only Gomtaro 180-300 series blades (180-300mm) can fit into the Zubat handle.

Perfect! I was hoping that an 11+ teeth per inch blade would work in the Zubat handle for fine pruning.

yes on my zubat

Huge problem. I wear mine on my leg and from repition of pulling the saw out and putting it back it has worn heavily on the blade side of the scabbard, now it won't lock at all. I'm going to put electrical tape around the handle so that it fattens it and hopefully becomes more wedged in.

I'll let you know how it works.
