Silky America no more?

Got a letter from Shozo Miyawaki of Silky Japan... Silky America has apparently lost its wholesale distribution agreement for selling Silky products the US.

The letter doesn't give a reason, but it is obviously related to the wide-scale Silky backorders that many of us experienced in 2009.

They hope to have a new distributor set up and fulfilling orders by March.

I know a lot of us like the guys at Silky America, but I hope this move solves the problem. Thought you Silky fans out there might like to know this bit of unconfirmed news.

Bummer that, I need a new Longboy... but I'm liking my Samurai.

You mean the folding one?

I've got one hanging that I never use, with maybe 5 minutes use on it.

Like this model in this image?

Its something that can't go on Craigslist, but I've had it in mind to sell it. Has our website written with permanent marker on one side of the scabbard, but painted over now. Maybe 10 square inches of light color paint. Other than that, the rest looks new.

Don't think the belt loop is on mine anymore. And whatever the skinny thing is half way down the handle. What is that part anyway?

No it just means that all Silky dealers in the US will now purchase from them. They are taking over for Silky America who used to provide this "middleman" role.

Yes this might be true now, aint it sad, if he can't find away to copy it and sell it in a different color. He has to gobble it up and control the sales. Happy days fork face I'll be buying ARS from now on, besides it a better product.

Silky America is now Sherrill tree. they are the new importer from Japan. nothing more nothing less, same as Silky America was the sole importer from Japan.

Superior Products are the sole importers of Kask Helmets and Lowe hand pruners.

I have also heard rumors that Sherrill is not placing an opening order for Kask helmets. This is good news for us little guys.

Does this mean they would not lower their price for walmart to put it on their selves?? Or the fact they would not make it with a Sherrill stamp?

I want some Lowe hand pruners.

So far, I'm at least as happy with the Samurai handsaws as the Silkys and I might just try Wolfgarten for my next polesaw/pruner.

Silky is good, they raised the standard for saw blades but they aren't the only game around.
