Just finished up my Captains hook. Pretty happy with the end result...bit of a PITA to extract the core, but not the worst. Took my time and referenced Samson insteuctions throughout and was about 45 mins. Final bury was pretty smooth. Thanks again for the core reduction tip @ARLO

I’m out of the Reep business, completely sold out finally. I was going to keep the odd length that was left, but ended up selling that also.
It looks like it might be the red version of Reep, last I looked Gap no longer was carrying the 10mm anymore. I’m interested in it’s origins also, I’ve only seen it offered from European websites.

It is in fact reepschnur. Found it at Maple Leaf Rope. If you are interested I would suggest calling Jason and speaking with him directly. He has it in 600' spools but will sell it to you by the foot at a very reasonable price.

Hey, @Samsquanch! Beautiful work you've done there. I'm not a rope splicer (yet) so I cannot truly appreciate how tough it must be to produce such quality work.
I just wanted to say that I think you may have done something with that foot loop that I have not seen done before, and it looks really simple and elegant and like it must work beautifully. Which is to say the splicing of an eye around the same rope you are making the eye in, so that it creates a girth hitch, of sorts. Nicely done!

I totally copied it from watching james Kilpatrick climb. I couldnt see exactly how his was made so this is my interpretation from a fuzzy zoomed in video of him ascending.
The top splice that girths onto the hand ascender is done properly, as to say full length burries and what not, life support. The foot loop has been done with less fibers in it so i could get the stopper knot as low as possible, basically knotting the splice.

@Samsquanch; Please forgive my ignorance. Is that last photo supposed to be used as a retrievable SRT redirect? Beautiful work, once again. Is that a Rope Wrench you've got hanging off of the one prussic hitch, or something else? It looks too small to be a Rope Wrench, but maybe my eyes are deceiving me. I'd love to hear an explanation as to how you will end up using that setup.
