Sherrill says the VT is unsafe to climb on?

@Brocky . Hi there, I passed over this thread and noticed that neat looking device in your avatar. I'm have to squint to see on my phone,yet I still don't recognize it. What is that thing!?:foto:

Treeco did you ever use yours. I had a hard time figuring out the instructions and thought that it wasn't midline attachable and the way the instructions show attaching it to your harness was sketchy. Plus the handle stuck out too far. I started tree work in 88 and the guy who gave me mine must have gotten before then. I never really used it.

I used it a few times right after I bought it but didn't like it.

i think that this class of knots that works more like a chineese finger puzzle,
instead of a half hitched base lacing ;
can grip the host rope/finger or if not set correctly,
let rope slide, just like can ease out of finger puzzle.
.
VT more so than most.
i find if i just coil tail around line,
grab both ends and pull the configuration out to a VT type lacing it holds well.
.
So , would say VT is advanced hitch, because takes extra care in setting etc.
.
i prefer an Icicle based hitch in flat 3/8" Tenex
