Shady Fir.

Location
Chicago
Rolled up to this Fir this morning. Sold as a 3 cut crane job. Winds all last night and all day today were 30-40 mph. We should not have the crane out at all. The vertical crack was seperating by 2" and making alot of noise.

So we decided to tie into the crane and rig it manually. We all feared tieing into the tree. Plus there was no root flare and we root pruned it 3 years ago and we could see the soil staring to fail. I grabed my gear but Fransico beat me to it.(Nice when that happens) Here he is setting the rigging for the top.

Fransico rigged out 2 piecies and then the crane was good enough to cut around 25' of stick. Heres the cross section. This tree was not a huge challenge or eneything too exciting just keep in mind the little ones will kill you just as easily as the big ones. If we did not have the crane I would have walked away.

must have been nice to get positioned anywhere around the tree without dealing too much with spikes.....Question for you though..what was the reason for root pruning and how intensivley did you go at it?
