Sewn eyes, help me understand strength

Spectra (= Dynemma) doesnt make sense IMO. The strength of the sewn eye comes from other factors then breaking strength of the thread. I guess its bad energy absorbing capacities could be even a disadvantage...
Along with the "slipperiness" of it, and its "sharpness" as a fiber (sorry, technical wording isnt better than that in English!).
I know of comparison-testings where splices have been stitched with PES vs. UHMWPE and the last ones have been weaker. Theory was that the UHMWPE thread is more aggressive to the inside of the splice (which is moving) because its "sharpness".

Heat resistance is a factor for some applications (firemen etc.), and there are heat resistant ropes with sewn eyes with Technora thread (see f.e. http://www.sterlingrope.com/product/456557/F075AA/_/FireTech).
As far as I know was Sterling the first company worldwide to manufacture such special sewings (at least the claim themselves to), and its more involved than in "normal" PES sewings.
