Long story short: My car was broken in to. They stole a whole bunch of stuff, including a lot of climbing gear.

Today I spliced an eye in my new 1.75mm Zing-It. For whatever reason, I decided I was going to make a really long bury with a very gradual taper. I buried close to 12". Following guidelines for splicing, this line would only need less than a four inch bury to maintain strength.

Anyway, after the splice was done and stitched, I held it in my hand and rocked it back and forth a bit, simulating getting ready to make a toss. Well where I was holding on to was thicker than usual, due to the bury.

So my thinking here is that a person could bulk up the section of the ZI that they hold on to when making their toss. This might give you a bit better control when throwing.

I also figured out that you could slip on another piece of ZI over as a cover and put it right where you wanted it. This would be similar to how sailors strip the cover of high tech lines so save weight, but leave a bit a cover on chafe-prone areas of the line.

What do you think?
