I received two saddles yesterday. My first impression.. sweet. It's very light, well made and thought out. The "fast" buckles work great. Different than the BFII, but work as well. The overall saddle I think is lighter and more... hmmm ..."stable" and "airy" than the BF. Although the BF has a little more padding in the waist belt, I like the design of the petzl better. Mostly because of the support and the d-rings (alum) and all the storage thats provided. One of my pet peeves with the BF is the piping around the edges. Petzl has the same stuff but why can't they double stitch it?? I've seen BF's two weeks old that look like crap!
There's these built in saw holders that are cool, but I'm trying to figure out how to hang a saw from them so it will hang straight. The only thing I've come up with so far is a twisted clevis, but that seems a little heavy (but my pockets lighter!). I'm sure it wont take long for someone to come up with something.
To answer someones question; yes the large bridge rings can be loaded. The bridge has three adjustment positions and it's a very easy switch. I moved the bridge to the lowest position and for me it worked alot better. Before I made a few adjustments the saddle wanted to rock me backwards. I'm sure once its dialed in, it will sit more naturally. I think the size of the rings are perfect. Big enough to clip into, easy to change the bridge AND put a ring or swivel on it. I had a little trouble with just a biner on it (on the bridge). I think I'd put something on the bridge.
Anyway, its a nice saddle. I think come competition time we'll see alot less of them bf's
Now.. would I trade my treemotion for it??........ nowayman
