Seqouia SRT + Ergovation Y-top = ???

Can it be done?

The "Secur" that i've been using on my Sequoia SRT for the past 1.5 years digs into my shoulders. I found rust on it as well, which is partially my fault for not drying it fully once or twice.

I am buying a Y-top for the Ergovation and installing in on my Seq SRT, mainly for Croll use and chainsaw support. I may not ever use the dorsal/ventral attachments for aerial lifts or otherwise.

I am mainly posting this for any users who have both products in front of them, or know both products well enough to know if these two things will fit together. All pictures point to "yes," but sometimes you just can't tell.

If mighta shoulda gone for the Navaho/Sequoia SRT top, and will if this one doesn't fit. Something about the Erg made me want it.

Thoughts?

Winch, sorry I can't help you with your specific question, but I have one of my own.

I also climb with the Sequoia SRT with a shoulder strap. I use the Torse Ascender Strap. Which if you look in the Wesspur catalog, you will notice it is much thinner than the Secur shoulder strap. I have no discomfort from this setup. I can work in it all day long with large saws hanging from the saddle.

It could be that I have always used shoulder harnesses so that I am used to it, but one thing I found is that fit is important. The cross on the strap on the back needs to be high, close to your neck, so that the straps come and stay close to your neck. If they slide out beyond your collar bones toward your shoulders, they will tug every time you lift your arms. Definitely will create a sore spot and tire you out through your work day.

So my question is how are your straps setup? Could this have an effect on the discomfort you are feeling?

Dave,
Thanks for your input, but it is more a result of a motorcycle injury than the setup.

I use suspenders on my other two saddles, and they are the thick n' wide variety, and no discomfort from these.

It was over four years ago, and I was doing the classic "arborist gaze" at a tree on a pretty serious turn. Needless to say, I missed the turn, went over the handlebars and snapped my collarbone. Had a steel plate put in there, which BROKE 6 weeks later, and needed another one inserted. Fun times, especially when during the second surgery I woke up mid-incision.

The Secur and thin straps like it dig into my plate, so I wear fluffy fat thick suspenders and they make my work better.

Thanks for your input though, any and all suggestions are appreciated.

If anyone cares to know, I got my Ergovation Y-top and it DOES fit just fine on top of my Sequoia SRT.

I think I'll get to climb on it tomorrow (Sunday), but it might turn into later this week, depending on the jobs.

Seems like a winning combination, the top came with two big super-heavy-duty rated carabiners - like 41kn rated! I'll probably end up using them in my rigging bag, and use something lighter on the saddle.

I'll post a picture of the setup - if anyone cares!
