School talk

may be for the younger kids you could get a some of those tree coloring books as hand out gifts. the isa book section on the web site has the for 1$ + a quanity discount. it would give the kids something to bring home and make the experance longer lasting, also it helps the younger minds to rember.

For the younger kids, Bring in cookies(wood) and show them how to tell trees age and things. Then give them paper plates to draw there own tree rings.."cookies"

Just ordered some trees are good temporary tattoos to hand out to the kids. That should be a big hit. I'm definitely thinking the more hands on stuff we can do the the more interested they'll be so I'm going to bring in lots of tree parts (some tree cookies, branches, seeds, etc...). Talked a bit to my sister (She was an elementary school teacher and now runs a small gifted school) about it and her biggest recommendation was to break it up, do 5 minutes on something and then switch topics, try to get the kids up and involved as much as possible. We'll see how it goes! Hoping to organize a tree planting day for the school too, but I don't think I've got enough time to organize it right now.

That is really neat Tailtree! It is great to see some one take the time to teach and maybe even inspire a younger generation. Who knows some of them might be the arborist of tomorrow.
